My name is Lara Mercer. I am a student at Waycross College. I am creating this website for a class called
Integrating Science, Math, and Technology. We are to create a website to help others decide if a website is valid enough to
use. I hope this list is as useful for you as it has been for me!
• Always look for the Author’s name
– Be sure the author’s name and contact information are clearly identifiable on the site.
• Look for
publishing date or last up-dated date- I would not advise any information over three years old
• Look for facts-
facts are things that can be proven.
o Example: Waycross Georgia has a Wal-Mart Store.
• Be weary of opinion-
opinions are ideas that reflect the author’s feelings on the subject
o Example: Wal-Mart is the best store in town.
• Be sure the author’s work is cited from other reliable sources
I hope these
five simple steps come in handy next time you need to do a research paper or just browsing your favorite hobby.
